Traverse the Appalachian Trail or hike the Cherokee National Forest. Visit Rocky Fork State Park for some amazing fly fishing, spectacular views of waterfalls and mountain biking. Unicoi County is also known for several scenic points of interest, including Big Bald, Still Branch Falls and Red Fork Falls.
Agricultural Fun
Unicoi County's climate and fertile soil is ideal for growing a variety of produce, including strawberries and several kinds of apples. Each year, Erwin, Tennessee, invites over 100,000 visitors for the Unicoi County Apple Festival. One of the region's largest agricultural producer, Scott’s Strawberry and Tomato Farms, is located in Unicoi County. The Farmhouse Gallery and Gardens is a 75-acre farm open to the public.
Downtown Erwin
One of the best examples of how Unicoi County's citizens take pride in their home is Downtown Erwin. Visit the local library, which is the beautifully restored train depot. Shop the many one-of-a-kind boutiques, and stop in at the fountain drug stores. As a Tennessee Main Street Program Community, Downtown Erwin has plans to completely revitalize the area.
Whitewater Adventures
There are multiple whitewater options on the Nolichucky and Watauga RIvers. Companies like USA Raft provide guided expeditions for rafting, paddling, rock climbing, horseback riding, camping and caving.
